Ozymandias

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away.

Happy Xmas

In Madang there are two laws rigorously obeyed – Nambawan – it is only allowed to rain at night, and given that we get three times the amount of rain as the UK that’s amazing. And so nightly tropical storms with thunder and lightning that can shake the bed and daytime sunshine with a well watered landscape.  Law number 2 – pedestrians have priority at zebra crossings so people just walk out and traffic screams to a halt.  The only police on foot that I have seen are the traffic police at rush hour stopping the flow of pedestrians on crossings to give the traffic a chance.
The week before Christmas here reminds me of the time in the uk when we were supposed to work on New Years Day and the papers and politicians all fulminating about the lazy workers and all the lost production until they got the message and made it a National holiday. About half the staff are in and less every day, I doubt anyone will be there Thursday afternoon.

So, a happy xmas to my readers, keep warm or cool as appropriate
